The current long-term care facility serves majority of the elderly community in the local area. Long-term care facilities have recorded a consistent increase in the incidence of patient falls during the last five years, from 2015 to 2020. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the incidence of falls increased dramatically, reaching a very large rise of 20%. The long-term care facility’s healthcare environment recently implemented a patient fall prevention program that includes the use of anti-skid shoes, bed-exit ambulatory devices, assistive devices, and other fall prevention measures.
