Q Prepare an outline of the final report. The content of the report is based on the Five Key Questions (see below). The outline should be a couple of pages and include brief, initial answers to the questions. Make sure you add citations for each source you are using to substantiate or illustrate your points. It is never too early to add the citations! Please remember that you do NOT need to write the paper using the exact phrasing of the questions. You can structure the paper in any way that makes sense to you, so long as the five questions are addressed. The outline’s purpose is for you to have a guide for writing the final report (and for the presentation), so that you can then use my feedback and the remainder of the term to build on it towards your final submissions. Five Key Questions: Case Study Analysis and Recommendations: • What is the issue? • What is the context of the problem? • What key facts should be considered? Discuss the factors that are affecting the issue and may affect the outcome of the case. • What alternatives are available to the decision-maker? In the case of a case study based on a past event where the outcome is already known, you can focus on the alternatives that were present at the time; also think about the reasons why the decision-makers decided for the course of action they did (or why they did not make decisions, if that is the case). In the case of a case without an outcome, evaluate the alternatives and their pros and cons. • What would you recommend — and why? Important note: if the case study is referring to a past event, you can rephrase this question to address ways in which the negative outcome could have been avoided, and what strategies, actions, and/or organizational changes should take place to avoid repetitions or worse outcomes in the future.
