The four main types of yogas are Karma yoga, Kriya yoga, Bhakti yoga and Gnana yoga. In this discussion I will be discussing about the Kriya Yoga. The basic idea of Kriya Yoga is that in this path the goal is not about realization but also an effort to know about the mechanics behind the making of life. Kriya Yoga is all about transforming the energies within us to try to reach the ultimate. Here the action springs out from within. Lahiri Mahasaya (an Indian Guru) described Kriya Yoga as something that can be learnt through the guru-disciple system. Another important teacher, Yogananda explains that in kriya Yoga the energies are used to make revolutions that go up and down touching the six spinal centers. These six spinal centres are in accordance with the 12 astral signs of the zodiac (Yogananda, 2005).
