After analyzing and viewing One Nation Under Stress: Deaths of Despair in the United States by Dr. Sanjay Gupta (2019) three relevant course concepts that connect to the major themes in the film are economic inequality/poverty, social movement theory, and white privilege/whiteness. This film discusses what is causing stress in Americans, how stress affects people, and the connection between stress and higher death rates in America. In the film it is evident that Americans are feeling the many side effects of stress. This paper will cover an analysis of themes present in the film and their connection to Social Work 6201: Social Economic Justice course material.
