Up from Slavery is a book that was written by the American educator, Booker T. Washington and it holds the autobiographical details of his life back in 1901. His story is dark and pretty inspiring at the same moment as he was a slave child who lived during the Civil war and from there he came this long way getting education from the New Hampton Institute. 40 years of Washington’s life has been written in words in this particular book which stood out to me a lot. He was also a figure deeply connected with the Southern race relations.
