Q Explain the physiological value of using O2 masks if the pressure in the airplane interior cannot be maintained. It should be noted that the atmospheric pressure surrounding the plane is substantially lower.
Atmospheric pressure decreases with the increasing altitudes . The concentration of oxygen in the higher altitude decreases as compared to the ground level . When the person is at higher level or altitude the arterial PO2 falls . This causes hypoxia, that is low level of oxygen in the blood, confusion ,light-headedness ,fatigue and euphoria.
