Q Final: Teach-in Project (20% of your grade) (20% of your grade) Part 1: Teach-in Project (Presented synchronously or asynchronously) Purpose: The purpose of this final assignment is to develop content for teach-in project that will focus on a nonviolent civil resistance campaign. You may draw upon the research completed for your mid-term project or select a new nonviolent civil resistance campaign you’d like to explore for your project. A variety of teach-in modalities can be used for this assignment (ex. PPT presentation, photo-essay, vlog, spoken word, case-study, mock newspaper article, podcast, interview, etc.). Step 1: Prepare your Teach-in presentations: Teach-ins will be presented to the class either synchronously via Zoom (5 minute presentations during a live zoom) or asynchronously (submitted as a recording or other format via Canvas in the Teach-in Discussion Board). If you are presenting synchronously, I can record your presentation and send it to you to post. Step 2: Sign up sheet (DUE Dec. 2nd) available here Links to an external site.for synchronous presentations on December (Mon) 7th, (Wed) 9th, or (Mon) 14th or state your name and indicate that you will share your Teach-in asynchronously by December 14th via the Teach-in Discussion Board. Step 3: Presentation of the Teach-in (DUE Dec. 14th): Synchronous (during Zoom) or asynchronous options • Option 1: Present your Teach-in on December (Mon) 7th, (Wed) 9th, or (Mon) 14th synchronously OR • Option 2: Upload your asynchronous Teach-in Presentation to the Teach-in Discussion Board by Dec. 14th (See Step 4). Link to Teach-in Discussion Board Step 4 (Part A): Teach-in Discussion Board (DUE Dec. 14th by 9:30 am or earlier) All Teach-in Project presentations will be posted in the Teach-in Discussion Board to share with our learning community. Post your Teach-in presentation (or a summary of the content if presented synchronously) on the Teach-in Discussion Board. Step 4 (Part B): Teach-in Discussion Board - Two Peer Feedback posts (DUE Dec. 14th by 11:59): Students are required to post questions, comments and supportive feedback to two different teach-in projects. Step 5: Paper: Complete the Teach-in Summary, reflection & bibliography and submit via Canvas here (DUE Dec 14 by 11:59). Part II: Reflection paper (Submit via Canvas): The Teach-in project will include a two-page reflective essay that includes 1. A research-based summary detailing the purpose and intended audience of the teach-in, 2. how the Teach-in relates to the content covered in the class (connect to a minimum of 2 key concepts and readings from the class), 3. A reflective conclusion detailing the importance of the topic presented and your key takeaways from the assignment, 4. a bibliography with a minimum of five sources from the course readings.
