Q 1.What three types of pressure contribute to GFR?
2. How does afferent vasoconstriction affect the GFR ? How does the efferent vasoconstriction affect GFR?
1. The three types of pressure which contributes the Glomerulus Filtration Rate includes hydrostatic pressure , colloid osmotic pressure and fluid pressure. The Bowman’s capsule space exerts hydrostatic pressure of its own that pushes against the glomerulus. The hydrostatic pressure in the glomerulus capillaries is essentially the blood pressure in the glomerulus. The colloid osmotic pressure is the second force and it is the pressure exerted by the colloids within the glomerulus. Colloid pressure draws some of the filtrate that was pushed out of the capillary because of hydrostatic pressure and moves fluid from the Bowman’s capsule into the blood by osmosis . Fluid pressure also presses the fluid from the Bowman’s capsule into the blood . Glomerulus filtration rate is determined by these three pressures.
