The paper traces the occurrence of and the possibility of the development of mental disorders in female prisoners because of the prevailing conditions inside the prisons, most of which revolve around the subject of being discriminated, violated, abused, and exploited, leading to the emergence of the gap between women imprisonment and correctional reforms. While there are numerous researches to support the connection and the current survey shows that there has been a mixed response towards prison time and mental disorder, it highlights the need for implementation of corrective measures, mainly laws and policies, to guide the need for women welfare in prisons and also bridge the gap between theory and practice.
