Module 4 Midterm Assignment

Module 4 Midterm Assignment

Q Mid-Semester Reflection Letter Your job is to write your instructor a letter about your performance in this class over first half of the semester. The purpose of the letter is for you to reflect on your performance thus far and share it with your instructor. You should include what you have learned so far in the class, how you have improved (as a student, writer, etc.), what you still need to work on, and what you hope to accomplish in the second part of the semester. Think about more than just grammar and spelling. Think about larger concepts and ideas we have discussed, too (ex: research, critical thinking, analysis, MLA, They Say/I Say concepts, etc.). You should support your points by providing specific examples or referencing comments or feedback you have received in the class. Use the block format business letter template on the following page as a guide for your letter. Some information can stay the same (instructor’s name and address, Dear ___, and Sincerely), but other parts need to be revised. This assignment will be graded as a reflection. (This is the writer’s address) (Include actual date in this format) (Include name and address of person you are writing to) (Address can stay the same) Dear Professor ******: This template is a sample of a block format business letter. In the first paragraph of a normal business letter you should state the main point of your letter. It should have a friendly opening and then have a quick transition into the point of the letter. This paragraph should only be a few sentences in length, and the purpose should be clear. There are not details in this paragraph. The second (and subsequent body paragraphs, if needed) paragraph should include details that support your stated purpose from paragraph one. This could include specific examples, evaluation, and support. You should only have a few supporting paragraphs in a business letter. The support should be clear and to the point. Your last paragraph should be your concluding paragraph. Briefly restate your purpose in a clear and concise manner, and for an informational business letter, thank your reader for his or her time. If your letter requires follow-up, include contact information. Sincerely, Your Name

Address Date Address Dear Professor *****: I want to thank you for supporting and guiding me so far in the course. I hope I have developed my writing skills and have grown as a writer. The course has provided me knowledge on various sectors, which has helped me in self-assessment. My biggest problem was citation, and through the course, I have learned how to cite in MLA style. I have also learned the importance of brainstorming and how to develop my ideas into a paper. I am focusing on how to research and how to think critically.
