In such situations, it is imperative for any journalist to not agree with going undercover as the ethical directives of the profession bound the journalist from doing so, and it would be wise to say that I would do the work, but not going undercover, and rather relying on sources. However, sometimes, to get into the core of an issue, steps that are risky need to be taken, as ensuring that the truth reaches the public is fundamental to the profession of journalism, so perhaps I would not go undercover as a janitor, but rather keep a close eye and check on the retirement home without getting explicitly involved.
