Discussion 4_Primate Evolution and Environmental Change_Anthropology

Q Discussion Instructions: Imagine that our planet continues along on a warming trend. Humans have learned to manage their natural resources better, so primates in the wild are no longer impacted by human behavior such as the clear-cutting of forests or hunting. However, global warming is now the norm. • Choose a favorite primate! Describe where it lives in the wild (geographic location) and its habitat (what is the environment like)--some links are included below. • Hypothesize how you think this primate might respond as the climate continues to change. • Specifically, do you think your selected species is likely to adapt or might it go extinct? If you believe extinction is more likely, why? If you believe your species will adapt, how do you hypothesize this will happen--migration, evolution, etc.?

Primates are very smart, and like humans, they are intellectual and can learn the tricks of life through experiences, and use it for their survival. The times have seen rapid progress for humans and this progress has led to a number of changes in the environment that have resulted in the creation of a natural habitat that has become burdened with global warming, with a direct impact on the primates.
