Family psychoeducation (FPE) is a family-based treatment paradigm that takes into account both brain physiology and the environment. FPE has a constant, beneficial influence on clients' and their families' lives. In the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar illness, family psychoeducation programs have emerged as a well-supported evidence-based strategy. It focuses on resolving family dysfunction as the fundamental source of symptoms in a family member.
