Q The cave paintings in France are one of the very earliest primary sources we have as historians that were actually produced by human beings. What can they tell us about the concerns of early humans?
The painted walls of the caves in Lascaux in southwestern France are the most unique creations and it conveys the message that humans are very rare in Paleolithic art (Tedesco, 2020). The cave walls are superimposed with the animals’ images, Neanderthals at that time encountered or hunted (Tedesco, 2020). Our prehistoric ancestors found the cave wall as their canvas to feature the art. Their life was surrounded with the wild animals and they made the perfect image during ceremonies to make the hunt successful.
