Extra Credit: The Pilgrimage for a Better Future had addressed the very real and upsetting human rights violations that the prisons allow. The Yuba County Jail has not met the minimum standards in years and the inmates are suffering. They have stood up for themselves through hunger strikes, but some have faced so much violence that they feel taking their lives is the only way out. Immigrants face violence and uncertainty when kept in these prisons and some are not even charged with a crime they are simply waiting for their legal case to process.
