To tackle the aftermath and effects of the Great Depression, a series of programs were introduced by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, known as the New Deal and established during the 1930s, to bring back the good times and prosperity in the lives of the Americans who had been greatly affected by the lack of opportunities and resources, and also to stabilize the economy along with creation of new jobs. On a similar ground and to take the reforms a few steps ahead, President Lyndon B. Johnson launched the Great Society during the 1960s, which were domestic reform programs aimed at social welfare, tackling poverty, and establishing racial injustice, probably also making a more impartial radar of service than the previous efforts.
