Q Jack Welch implemented a 20/70/10% program at GE which was controversial, but successful. He maintained that the top 20% of employees were Stars and should be rewarded as such; the 70 % were to be coached mentored and moved up so they would eventually become part of the 20%. The remaining 10% should be asked to improve or be shown the door. With this system everyone at GE knew that to remain on the payroll, they had to step up their game on a constant basis– or else. The result is historic and added tremendous value to GE and its customers. He was using forward-looking metrics – in addition to other metrics – to achieve this result. Would this system work in your company? Why or Why Not? Please respond in the discussion forums your responses
