The most interesting aspect of this week’s reading has been a comparison of the nature of advertisements as compared to the advertising world of the United States. Advertisements have been considered a crucial aspect of capitalism as it continuously helps to sustain the consumerism culture by generating newer and newer demands each and every day. Advertisements seem to reflect the innermost desires of a person’s heart and even play on folk’s fears for creating demands. Since the Soviet era was characterized by centrally planned economies, it did put limitations on the promotion, competition or branding of products.
