In the Basseri society the households are seen to have nuclear families who live together in a single tent. It constitutes the unit of production and also the overall consumption and the ownership of livestock. There are larger tents that are used for longer stays and for daily travel purposes there are smaller versions that are employed. There are camps made up of thirty or forty tents and each of them are occupied by the married couples along with their children which also include an occasional widowed or single relative.
