In the year 2013, the former CIA systems administrator and the computer expert Edward Snowden released confidential government documents to the media and revealed the existence of the government surveillance programs which spied on millions of Americans and foreign citizens who had no connection with terrorism or any suspicious activity. They monitored private e-mails, phone conversations, web history, etc. without any permission or court warrants. This surveillance technique used by the government led to a global debate about the protection of the privacy of citizens. In my opinion, his actions did benefit the nation in many ways because this resulted in the US
