Burke, Lindsey, and Jude Schwalbach. "Housing Redlining and Its Lingering Effects on Education Opportunity." The article entitled "Housing Redlining and Its Lingering Effects on Education Opportunity," published on March 11, 2021, explores the government's categorization in the 1930s, which segregated people of color from whites. Because of this segregation, the people living in redlining areas were not allowed certain benefits, such as property loans. I plan to use this source in my essay because as property taxes primarily fund the schools, no property means no funds. Because of this reason, the education in the redlining areas is poor, putting people of color at a disadvantage.
