Summarize what Richard Wright calls the “ethics of living Jim Crow.”(pages 132-140). 2. To what extent do some of your current classrooms indicate that these ethics are now outmoded? 3. This journey of discovering life as a black boy and experiencing all that happens to him because of his color is what takes us through the lanes of Jim Crow South and North. This black boy is no pure soul with all goodness surrounding him, but he has dreams, and these dreams are fueled by his desire to be free of all the prejudices and to live them, he learns both the good and the bad of survival. He wants to be free and wants to read and write, with the hope that someday he will free the blacks of all the prejudices they have faced and created a safe haven for them.
