The text Euthyphro by Plato has left me amused by the fact how every time Euthyphro tries to explain Socrates the idea of piety, he keeps negating them and comes up with a counter-question. I might sound silly by finding the text amusing but the way Socrates keeps raising questions portrays his intelligence and depth of knowledge. The thing that impressed me was that Euthyphro was not biased towards his family members and took his father to the court for murdering a slave. As the conversation progresses I am more convinced as to how wise Socrates was, yet very humbly and patiently listened to the Euthyphro trying to give an apt definition to what piety is. Euthyphro on the other hand keeps altering his ideas based on Socrates’ queries and thoughts (Jowett, 1894).
