Russians living in eastern Ukraine are a cultural and linguistic minority. This minority group includes people identified as ethnically Russian and speaks Russian as their local language but resides within Ukraine’s borders. This minority group includes present immigrants and those who have occupied the place for generations. Even though Russia is the primary linguistic and cultural identity of the people in the eastern part of Ukraine, several consider themselves Ukrainian citizens. Culturally, the Russians living in this region have acquired several Ukrainian customs and traditions, although some Russian cultural elements remain.
