A plasmid is a small, circular , double stranded DNA molecule that is distinct from a cell’s chromosomal DNA . Plasmids exists in bacterial cells and they also occurs in some eukaryotes . The genes that are present in the plasmids are also useful for the bacteria as it helps in providing antibiotic resistance to the bacteria
