The assigned reading “Understanding Human Trafficking in the United States” opened my eyes to a lot of new information. It also made me feel shamed in our so called “civilized” status. Women and children are the worst hit and the physical and mental trauma they go through is simply unimaginable. The confusion regarding the victims of human trafficking who are most of the time mistaken and treated as immigrants is also a serious issue.
