In chapter XXIV the author describes his journey to England third class via Dunkirk and Tilbury. He mentions that he had opted for the cheapest way to travel (this again shows how people struck with poverty travel). He then describes how numerous men and women slept in the saloon crammed together like animals. We then see how the author describes England to the Romanians and in his mind he says that he will not remain poor. Then the author describes his visit to B’s office. We come to know that the author had to live for a month in just 30 shillings only and to get some extra money and make himself look poor he went to sell his clothes.
