The first few centuries of Islam were a time of rapid growth through conquest and with this growth, many of those conquered countries begin to intergrade Islam into their respective cultures. This is apparent in the early Islamic arts, specifically, Islamic architecture. The period covering early Islamic architecture spans from the beginning of Islam in 600 CE to the early centuries of the Islamic Golden Age around the 1100s CE. As the first Mosque were built for Muslims to worship, we see the unique influence each culture had on their design. Early Islamic architecture was greatly influenced by the diverse cultures of conquered countries.
