Q Summarize what you learned this week about migratory patterns and displacement in the era of globalization. You can focus on whatever was most impactful or interesting to you -- do not try to cover it all! (include one example from readings and one from Human Flow).

Q Tell me about your CCKP group work: What did you contribute to the CCKP project this week? What did you learn from your colleagues? Did you feel like you were engaging in one of the entry points to intercultural praxis? What challenges arose for your group and how did you solve them?

The most impactful is the first wave of migration between 16th – 18th century when the millions of migrants were transported to America, Asia, and Africa. Europeans took the migrant labor from the African lands and ported them off to America to the elite class Europeans to extract the materials from the land. Over 15 million slaves were transported to the mine and plantations. The life style of the elite Europeans were much lavish and the indentured slaves were employed in the lands under the very poor conditions and they were brutally tortured by their masters. Another example of the migration from the documentary is the displacement of Iraqis from their place right after the American invasion in 2003. 268,000 people were forced to leave their homelands. Women shared their plight and the horrible incidents they faced during the invasion; they told that missiles were falling off like rain. These incidents are most impactful. I have learned that migration is a process which has been taking place decades after decades and sometimes it is forced and the effects of globalization make it more horrible.
