Unit 2 Part 2 Discussion
Q 1) In what ways does Foucault contest the conventional notions of authorship?
2)What does Foucault mean when he refers to the author as a "node within a network" of texts?
Foucault’s contesting of our conventional notions of authorship is based on the importance of an author. He probably believed that the notion of authorship is much more real and valuable than anything else which is why the desired amount of significance is given to an author. Through his argument he has in fact tried to establish a relationship between the author and his or her text which is definitely worth mentioning. It is the language and the system that act as the bridging link between the two.
