Q Describe two ways in which social vulnerabilities affect the scope of a disaster and two ways in which these vulnerabilities can be addressed in disaster management.
Social vulnerabilities are such that they can affect the scope of a disaster, especially in its recovery and mitigation, as its limitations created by the social inadequacies and the lack of resources, can hinder their preparedness and awareness for disasters and affect efficient response towards it. Along with these social vulnerabilities can also make an impact on people with limited abilities, as a lack of infrastructure and communication, can make them deprived of timely help and create obstacles. There can be an economic loss because of these vulnerabilities and this can be both long-term and short-term, but the impact can further affect other factors like hygiene, shelter, food, and income.
