Q Purpose & Description Throughout this course, you will be examining the environmental and human features of a specific piece of property. But how to select a property to investigate? In this assignment, you will create and follow a site selection process to select a property to investigate throughout the quarter. Note: I highly encourage you to review the Final Site Report Assignment and other assignments to see types of data you’ll be collecting. This information will help you select an optimal site. I have a few site requirements that you must follow: • You must have legal access to the property. This means that the site is publicly owned and open to the public like a park space, riverfront, state forest, campground etc. OR you have been granted access to the property by the property owner. • The site should not be developed--no condos or office parks, etc. Look for sites that are primarily composed of open spaces/natural areas or have a mix of natural areas and some built features such as playgrounds, ballfields, trails, picnic areas, etc. • The site should be relatively large. The yard space on a 0.25 acre lot is too small. Likewise a 5000 acre forest is too large. Ideally, look for spaces between about 10-100 acres--lots opportunities in that range. Instructions 1.
