Q Self-care assignment -Abnormal Wellness is an extremely part of counseling. As counselors, we can’t ask our clients/students to practice self-care if we are not willing to do it ourselves. For this assignment, choose at least one day each week for weeks 1-4 for about 30 minutes (minimum) to practice some form of positive self-care. This can be something you already do, something you want to start doing, or something that is outside of your comfort zone. For example, you may have wanted to go to a yoga class and decide to finally do it! Write a 2-3 page (double spaced) in APA style 7th edition personal reflection on what you did. You do not have to have references/citations. You should include: 1. Description of what you did. Discuss what you did for self-care each week. Did you do the same thing? Change it up? 20 points 2. Why did you choose this self-care experience? 20 points 3. Personal reflection. Discuss how you felt before, while doing, and after your self-care experience. What you liked about it, what you didn’t like (if anything). Give an overall personal reflection. 40 points 4. Why is self-care important to you? Self-care has become a popular topic in recent years. I'm sure this is due to high levels of stress caused by the covid-19 pandemic, as well as dealing with rising product costs while still trying to provide for families on the same income. While earning my master's degree in counseling, I've learned that it's critical for counselors to take care of their own wellness in order to deal with the stress of clients. As an assignment for Abnormal Human Behavior class, students had to practice a form of positive self-care. I had already signed up for a Massage Envy monthly membership to help me relax, due to stress at work. The tranquility of the room and the soothing music appealed to me. So, at least once a week, I decided to listen to calming music alone in my room for 30 minutes. I also decided to include something to help improve the health of my body.
