Research Questions & Discussion

Q Please review the Module and Library Search Skills Page (Links to an external site.) before beginning this task. Once you have viewed the videos and done about 60 minutes of research, please start a thread about your research progress by April 7. Questions: • What is your main research question, at least for now. • What were you looking for? • What databases did you use? • What search terms did you use? • What have you found so far? • What questions do you have for the librarian? • What problems have you encountered? One of SLCC's research librarian's will be part of this discussion and can respond with specific suggestions and solutions. Please take advantage of this opportunity. Return by April 10 to post more about your progress on your thread as you continue to research. Post new responses as new Replys so that I can find them more easily. This discussion thread should demonstrate progress in your research. Be sure to look around and what others are doing. You may offer constructive feedback about their question and/or ideas about what kinds of sources to search for. You may also use this space to ask if the source you've found is a scholarly source.

My main research question as of right now is, "Do beauty contests/pageants set the non-achievable beauty standards? I was looking for opinionated articles that either support beauty contests, or are against it and think it's unethical for women. I wanted to be able to compare opinions and thoughts on this idea and see what people think is morally right and what's "unachievable" for beauty standards. The main database I used for my research was google scholar. I felt like this database gave me the most options to choose from and helped me decide what direction I wanted to go in.
