Q Chapter 6 Medicare (20 points) In a well-developed essay, choose two points from the chapter that you learned about Medicare. The points can be medically, politically, socially driven, or all of the above. Based on these points, what do you believe is the biggest flaw in Medicare, and can we solve the problems? Cite pages numbers in the textbook that support your two points. Draw from the reading and/or personal experiences with Medicare if you assist family members, for example, or if you work in a health administration setting. I'd like for you to complete the chapters for the Health Advocacy reading chapters7-12 (20 points). The final part of the book is Phase 3 of the Health Communication Advocacy Model. Instead of answering questions about the material, I'd like for you to write about your own research project as it relates to the model. For example, if you are researching an advocacy organization or campaign, then you'll need to understand how the communication process works or hasn't worked well (messages, strategies, target audiences, approaches, marketing to name a few). On the other hand, if you are researching a health policy, then you'll gain some insights into the influences surrounding the policy or parts that could benefit from the model (health system changes, policy changes, cultural beliefs, political agendas, attitudes/behaviors, to name a few ). For some of you, this may be the first time you've thought about your topic since you completed the topic assignment. This is precisely why we need to turn our focus on the topics this week. We are nearly passed the mid-term mark in the semester and the weeks will go quickly now. The information you discover will fit into the discussion of your paper. Strive for 3-4 well-developed paragraphs (with in-text citations included). If you use other sources to develop your discussion to check on the way the framework is implemented within your topic, then please include them, but please be aware that I expect you to use the assigned reading to discuss the advocacy model. The writing should be original and/or paraphrased appropriately because you may forget later when you add the discussion to your paper. Consider all three phases. Keep in mind that this is only a small step for your paper, and it will prepare you for the upcoming midterm. Due by Friday with two critical peer responses for feedback by Saturday.
