To understand the difference between the study of history and study of historical memory we need to understand what they mean first. History is the study of past events that involves interpretations and recording the past events and recollecting them in a way that would give meaning to the people. Historical memory, on the other hand, is the way by which groups of people create historical events or periods and then use specific narratives to identify with the same. In other words history is recording past events that have affected people or brought a complete change but historical memory is to celebrate a moment in the past through various objects like statues or monuments or even national holidays.
