Q Discussion Question: Before posting in this forum, make sure you’ve not only read the pages from Mr. Fox, but also the Powerpoint on 3 Novel Terms Download Powerpoint on 3 Novel Terms. Additionally, be sure to have viewed the TedTalk video on the Dangers of a Single Story posted in this week’s module. In the video for this week, Adichie talks about how problematic “single stories” are. Do you think Mr. Fox plays with this idea of multiple stories? How so? Why might metafiction, as explained in the PowerPoint this week, help readers see multiple stories instead of just one? In your answer to these questions, make sure to include 1-2 pieces of textual evidence from Mr. Fox to support your answers to the above questions. As you respond to your classmates, try to note places you disagree with them, and use the text to support your challenge of their reading. OR, you if you agree with your classmate, try to find other pieces of textual evidence to help support their claims about the novel.

I really enjoyed listening to Adichie's Ted Talk video. The concept of a single story is new to me. As I listened to her describe her experience with single stories and show how they are applicable not only in books but in the daily lives of people. I found it sad to think about how single stories can have such a large negative impact on the world and on a person's way of thinking. It seems that this is a natural way to think without regard to other "stories" existing.
