Module 3 Nurture over Nature

Q Share your thoughts on gender and learning theory. Do you think there is a double standard? Why or why not? How would you handle the situations discussed (for example your son wants to take ballet or dress up as Cinderella for Halloween, or your daughter wants to play football or dress up as spider man)? Do you have any experience with this type of situation? Be sure to use appropriate learning terminology in your discussion. In this discussion you MUST interact with at least one classmate. This is certainly a discussion worthy topic.

My thoughts on gender and learning theory is based on how the child is being brought up at a young age. My thoughts are that kids are influenced at very young which means they will mimic everything they see and most of the time it will be based on what the child see's at home, so we must always be very carful with our actions and words we use around young children. Yes, I do believe there is a double standard still in today's time, women are still expected to raise the kids after she gave birth, she is the one who is "meant" to comfort the children, go to the parent teacher conference's, and doctor appointments, cook, clean, etc.
