Milestone 2 Summary of Intent and Pitch Preparation

Milestone 2 Summary of Intent and Pitch Preparation

Q Your Final Project Milestone 2 assignment emphasizes the importance that you be able to articulate, both written and orally, the intent of your communication in order to succeed in a professional environment. In this second milestone you will submit a summary of your intended outcome or impact for your written component of the Final Project: the cover letter, memo, or proposal you selected in Milestone 1. You will submit this in written form (250 words max), which will later be converted to a verbal pitch (25-35 seconds) for the Final Project. This milestone helps you prepare for your Final Project by seeing firsthand the importance of forethought and planning in professional communication. Additionally, it prepares you for various real-world professional situations in which you’ll have to quickly verbalize your goal or position. Instructions To complete your Milestone 2 assignment, please submit the following: 1. Written pitch: Write your short pitch, up to 250 words, to help you explain your intent and appeal to someone in a short amount of time (pretend you just met someone on an elevator, and that person happens to be someone who will be reading your written submission soon, like a hiring manager or business colleague - how would you briefly explain your work and goals, if asked?) 2. Explanation of pitch: Why did you write your pitch this way? How would this pitch, if delivered verbally, help you further communicate your message? What tone would you use, and which areas of the pitch would you highlight using your tone and other verbal cues? Write a short paragraph or two (five to seven sentences) with your explanation. 3. Non-verbal intent: As we have explored in this module, non-verbal cues can be a major indicator in verbal and face-to-face encounters. List five non-verbal cues you can use to help “sell” your message, and five non-verbal cues you will practice avoiding so you don’t dissuade the receiver. Your submission should be one to two pages, double-spaced, and in 12-point Times New Roman font. You should include a minimum of three sources to support your decisions.

The quality of my work in finance has always been appreciated in my present organization. There is patience present in me making me do my calculations in financial work. My patience makes me revise and accomplish my tasks and objectives before assigned deadlines. There is presence of learning capabilities in me. My learning style is quick and gradual learning. I understand things quickly and keep learning from new insights acquired during learning. There is gradual progress in my learning by being involved in participant observation for observing my colleagues and subordinate team members. I am looking forward to writing a cover letter to a branded company to try to get a job in the finance department. Considering my experience and skills, there are high chances for me to get my desired job in my desired organization. However, I will need to present my skills in brief in my cover letter with use of professional language and tone to the prospective employer. The format of my cover letter has to be professionally appropriate and correct. There has to be empathy shown by me with the employer for understanding the emotions of the prospective employer. I wrote my pitch in the above-mentioned way because the recipient of the communication message had to be informed about my skills and experience in my expertized field briefly. Moreover, there had to be my intention about writing my cover letter clearly stated to the recipient. There also had to be my appeal for my cover letter informed to the recipient so that the recipient would not get confused about me writing the cover letter. If I would verbally communicate this message via this pitch, the recipient would have a clear idea about the purpose of writing my cover letter professionally and in the correct format. I would use an
