The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) was an organization that included “every wage worker, no matter what his religion, fatherland, or trade” was (Foner, 693). It was created to deal with the exclusionary policies of the American Federation of Labor (AFL) that only included privileged American workers like the skilled industrial and craft laborers who were mainly white, male, and native-born (Foner, 693). This was the main reason the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) grew rapidly because it included every labor irrespective of their race, color, sex.
