Q How does the formal structure of outlaw motorcycle gangs affect the way in which the gangs conduct themselves as individuals and groups; and how does it differentiate them (if at all) from the average street gang?
Motorcycle gangs are different than street gangs in some ways. They function like a formal organized group. The structure of the motorcycle groups is formal that makes them unique from the other gangs. These gangs are like any other organization with their own codes and rules. Motorcycle groups are known for their organized behavior and their hierarchical in which they follow their leaders just like any other organization. Bosmia, Quinn, Peterson, Griessenauer & Tubbs (2014) noted that the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs) are more uniformed and group unity can be noticed among them as they noted that “When one member of an OMG is injured, other members and associates are likely to arrive in the ED to support the injured member.”
