It is always said that imagery plays a significant role in modernist poetry and when talking about T.S. Eliot’s “The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock,” imageries cannot be left behind. It is through the imageries, the layers of meanings are presented to the readers. The main character in this poem goes through different kinds of experiences that highlight further his weaknesses and superficiality which are further highlighted through the imageries used. Critics have marked those imageries as strange and unconventional but that has not reduced their importance in any way.
