Q Past Experiences with Research As you discovered through this week's Learning Resources, research literature can be useful for personal, academic, and professional endeavors. However, you must be cognizant of your own experiences, beliefs, or biases that may influence your interpretation of the research literature as you consume research in your professional practice. This awareness will help you uncover bias or misinterpretation of findings that you may encounter as you read research reports. To prepare for this Discussion, reflect on any past experiences you may have had as either a consumer or producer of research. • For what reasons have you conducted an inquiry or consumed research in either your personal or professional life? • What challenges did you face when trying to find information to fulfill a specific purpose? • What can you learn from your past experiences with research about some of the challenges associated with consuming research studies? With these thoughts in mind: By Day 3 Post a description of your past experiences as either a consumer or producer of research. What lessons should be learned from your experiences about some of the rewards and challenges you may face as you consume research as an instructional designer? By Day 7 Read a selection of other students' postings. As you read other responses, note those to which you would like to respond with questions, comments, and/or support.
