It is recommended that you follow this order for organizing your presentation and write up, however it is up to you. General Information Identify the area of cannabis inequality/ social issue you have selected to analyze. Provide appropriate data and historical context for the area of cannabis inequity. You will likely include sources here to contextualize and support your analysis. There are MANY to choose from that we have and will cover this semester. I encourage you to read through the essays in the textbook. Explain why this issue interests you, and why it is of concern socially. First person is acceptable! Analysis of Collective Action or Social Change Identify a historical or existing social movement or organization that is already working to change social conditions in your topic area Give detailed background on the movement/ org (when was it created? As a response to what? Who is involved?) How does this organization define the problem they are addressing? What type of social movement organization structure does this fall under? You will need to reference our module on social change for this. What types of tactics/methods do they use to address the issue? What are their main goals? How do they define social change as it related to cannabis? What makes them a social movement? Give an example of an action or campaign by the social movement/ organization. Your Assessment and Additions Has their campaign been successful? Why or why not? Are they addressing all dimensions of the problem? What suggestions do you have to improve the effectiveness of the movement/ organization? Identify areas of weakness and explain how you would change the movement to better address the social issue. If you were to address this social justice issue what type of social movement organization would you organize? Would you build on the current movement or start from scratch? What aspects of your topic area would you focus on? Why? What tactics would you use to encourage social change? Why? What direction do you see the social movement going in the future? What does the future look like with regard to your topic of interest.
