Q • Points 110 • Submitting a file upload Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to analyze a film that involves people working together as a team, and then write about the different types of roles you observed. Action Items 1. Identify a film to use for this assignment and the Film Response Discussion. 2. The film should feature a group consisting of individuals whose roles, statuses, and communication styles you can easily identify. Some films that fit these parameters are: o 12 Angry Men (1957) o Speed (1994) o The Italian Job (2003) o Frozen (2013) o The Breakfast Club (1985) o Inception (2010) o 21 (2008) o Ready Player One (2018) 3. Watch your selected film in its entirety. It is recommended that you take notes while you watch the movie. Include video timestamps for key parts of group development (e.g., 13:20 is 13 minutes and 20 seconds from the start of the movie.) This enables you to reference specific scenes and actions. 4. Write an analysis paper using Microsoft Word that addresses the following questions, using specific examples from the film and support from the text: o Describe the complete story arc of the film in terms of how the group changed. How did the dynamics in the group change over time? What caused the changes? o Use the Tuckman model of group development presented in Chapter 2 in Linabary (2021) to identify when in the film you observe Storming, Norming, or Performing from the life cycle or stages of development for the group. Identify at least two of those stages and refer to specific behaviors and comments from the film and specify how they illustrate that stage of group development. o Using the "roles" lists in Chapter 3 in Linabary (2021), select one of those two stages you describe and analyze that full sequence of actions within the scene. Film segments analyzed should be 10-15 minutes, which may include one or two short scenes. Identify the group task roles, group building and maintenance roles, and individual roles of each character from the film. For example, did you observe one character who was a "self-confessor"? Describe what she said or did that supports your statement. In additional to the specific scene you are analyzing from the film, comment on if the roles you attribute to a character are demonstrated elsewhere by the same character. Are these behaviors typical for her/him? Support your answer. 5. Your paper must comply with the following formatting: o At least 2 pages in length, excluding a title page and references. o 12-point font, Times New Roman o 1-inch margins o Double spaced 6.
