One of the major changes in fashion during the Great Depression had been the replacement of expensive materials with cheaply available substitute materials. An evidence of replacement had been the use of nylon instead of using women’s hose. The materials for making buttons had also been replaced. Another change had been the use of zipper in most of the clothes worn by men and women (Phipps, 2019). The year of 1930 had been known for making women empowered and bold because the dresses had been shaped with designs to make the most feminine features prominent (Phipps, 2019).
