Q in philly for 2 days. i heard an ad on the radio, multiple times. "enroll your child in fulltime on-line school, ages k-12" your thoughts? Enrolling your child in an online school is similar to homeschooling, except the student has a lot more self responsibility. Personally, I feel going to an actual school gives you not only academic benefits by being taught by certified teachers, but social benefits as well. If you do not go to a typical high school, how does one be involved in clubs, sports, or meet friends? If a student does not have access to these types of things, how does one know what they like and do not like? How is one supposed to decide on a college? And if they do go to college, are their social lives normal? According to k12.com, online schooling is taught online one on one. I feel if a student is in front of a computer screen focusing on schoolwork for 6+ hours a day, the child will either be great and obedient with their schoolwork, or rather very misbehaved. While doing some research on homeschooling, the many advantages seem to benefit the parents. Build a better relationship with your child, a schedule to fit your day better and control what your child is doing are among the top 15 advantages of homeschooling. I believe it is effecting the child negatively and is depriving them of necessary social and academic benefits. What are your thoughts on online and homeschooling? Does is effect the child positively or negatively? https://www.sonlight.com/before-you-start-homeschooling/ http://www.k12.com/virtual-school-offerings/free-online-public-schools.html
