To write this essay, you should connect the two texts around a specific theme, idea, issue, or argument that is raised in both texts. What is important is that you make an argument about how the texts are connected. Making an argument means going below the surface, so you should not say that both texts deal with the issue of X and/or point out their similarities and differences; instead, show how they are connected. A good question to ask yourself is: what can I only see/understand about the issue (or understand with more insight and complexity) by bringing the two texts into conversation with each other?
