Q Background It is time to begin thinking about your demonstration speech. First thing to consider when speech writing is the audience (from this week's reading this is also called WIIFM)! We have to get the audience interested in what we say. The first step of that is picking a "cool" or "interesting" topic. Instructions Be sure to read the Informative Speaking PDF (Informative Speaking.pdf Actions ) for this week. Keeping in mind that the WIIFM factor, consider two or three topics that you could speak about that would engage the audience's interest and attention. Answer the following questions, keeping in mind time limit (4-5 minutes), needs of your audience, and the goals of demonstration speaking (teach someone something new or how to do something). You will get to use visual aids in this speech so also keep that in mind. Discussion Part 1: Please write about the following (15 points) Pick two possible demonstration speech topics. For each of the topics you pick, answer the following questions: 1. What are is the proposed topic ideas (pick 2) for your demonstration speech? 2. Why are you interested in those topics? 3. What is the benefit of speaking on this topic(s) for your audience? 4. What are three concerns you have in preparing this speech? 5. Can the I accomplish a quality demonstration speech on this topic in 4-5 minutes? Part 2: Please respond to one other person's post (10 points) Try to pick someone that does not yet have any replies. When you respond to another person's post, please comment on the following: 1. What do you think of the topic? 2. Offer feedback on the original poster's selections. 3. Do you think his/her goals are realistic? 4. Can the speaker accomplish a quality speech in the 4-5 time frame allotted?
