They are many misconceptions in the EMS and Fire-Rescue field. The most significant misconceptions about firefighters and paramedics are that they are two different departments. There are states in the northeast that have them separated, but here in south Florida, there combined as one. They rotate through all of the fire apparatuses, which are aerials, engines, and rescues, that way, they keep both skills up to date. There are instances they respond together. Fires, shootings, drowning, and cardiac arrests are some examples of both of them reacting together.
